Lincoln Connection
A communication tool for the Lincoln parents/guardians
January 4, 2010 Vol. 3, No. 4
News from the Principal
Cell Phones are a wonderful form of technology, however, during the school day students do not need to use them. We have phones in all classrooms and students can come to the office if they need to call home. The following is a school board policy that I must follow. All students have been made aware of it.

STUDENT CELL PHONE/PAGER USE
Students are not permitted to use cell phones or pagers in the building during school hours (8:20-2:50 for elementary; 7:00-2:10 for Cony; 7:30-1:45 for CATC). All emergency communications must be made through the main office. A courtesy telephone will be made available to any student who needs to call home. Administrators will authorize a cell phone zone (Cony and CATC).
All cell phones and pagers used by students during school hours will be confiscated and brought to the appropriate administrator. The first time a phone is confiscated, it will be returned to the student at the end of the school day. The second time the phone is confiscated, the phone can only be returned to a parent or guardian. The third time a cell phone is confiscated, it will be returned to a parent or guardian, and the student will be subject to discipline. Administrators may search cell phones if there is suspicion of violation of school policy.
Any refusal or inappropriate responses exhibited by students who resist turning over their cell phone when requested by a staff member may result in further disciplinary action.
Contact Information
Please notify the office if your childs contact information has changed. It is very important that the office have all updated addresses and phone numbers in case of an emergency. If you would like a new emergency card please call Mrs. DeWitt at the office, 626-2483, and she will send one home with your child.

Help Our School Win $$$$
The four Augusta Elementary Schools have teamed up to win $100,000 through U.S. Cellular.
No Parking
The Augusta Police Department has been monitoring the parking at Lincoln School and will be ticketing any cars that are parked in the Fire Lane or on the wrong side of the street. Parents may park on the lower end of Lincoln Street and along Bedford Street as well as in the parking lot. At dismissal we watch all children walking on the sidewalk as they get to their parents car in the parking lot.

Winter Band Concert
The 5th and 6th grade band students have been busy getting ready for their winter band concert. You can listen to their hard work on January 14th at Cony High School starting at 6:30PM. Students need to be there at 6:15PM. The concert will be less than an hour. The 5th graders will be playing songs from their lesson book with a grand finale of Jingle Bells. They have really improved from their starting point in late September. They should be really proud of how far they have progressed. The 6th graders will be playing three concert band pieces they have been studying and rehearsing with all the 6th graders that participate in band in Augusta. Please come and enjoy this exciting concert.
